QUOTES "I loved the trip. Cambodia is a hidden gem. The people are friendly, the accommodations are good, and the food is fabulous. On the photography front, Nathan is a patient, knowledgeable, inspiring teacher. I’d really like to go back to Cambodia during the rainy season to see how it looks with green fields and rice paddies and filled lagoons at Angkor."

THE TOURS 4 years ago I moved to Cambodia and joined forces with UK adventure
tour company 'All Points East' (Formerly 'Gecko Travel') to offer two
great South East Asian Photography tours. Images of Cambodia 11days/ 10
nights and Images Of Laos 13 days/ 12 nights. We have recently added
two more tours that both start in Saigon; Vietnam. Images of Vietnam
(Mekong Delta) 9 days/ 8 nights and Images of Indochina (Vietnam &
Cambodia)16 days/ 15 nights. ![]() These exciting itineraries offer endless photographic opportunities and fascinating and original insights into the peoples, landscapes, cultures and history of the regions visited.
Our aim has always been to encourage beginners, casual amateurs or budding pros, not only get to know their cameras better, but to interact with their subject matter in more meaningful ways.
We are generally not looking for participants to walk around with a camera permanently stuck to their eye but rather ask them to look around and understand their environment in order to make informed and selective choices about what they are really trying to achieve from their pictures.
As far as I know I am the only professional photographer offering extended trips around Cambodia who actually lives here. After 4 years this gives me unrivaled local experience and combined with speaking a little of the language an obvious advantage when taking tourists beyond the obvious tourist attractions. The tours are orientated towards digital SLR users, not only to teach the most up to date techniques, but also to improve the learning curve through instant feedback. Most days we down load work and discus as a group. Simple post-production techniques are then demonstrated which can often improve shots considerably. Quite simply these trips offer such a wealth of photographic opportunities and professional advice that it would be very difficult to go home without a portfolio of images that you would be proud to show anyone. The first thing that strikes one about northern Laos is the dramatic landscapes, but add to that brightly decorated temples, orange-robed monks and countless hill tribes then you really have a dream tour for any travel photographer. In contrast to other photography courses, and in keeping with the All Points East philosophy, this trip intends to emphasize a travel photography that focuses on the local people, their cultures, traditions and religions and as well its landscapes and encourages a positive representation of the places and people it visits. From Thailand’s infamous Golden Triangle region, we'll travel by road and by boat through the unspoilt mountains and jungles of remote northern Laos to the ancient capital, now World Heritage Site, Luang Prabang. Explore the beautiful temples and colonial architecture of what is acknowledged to be the best preserved city in SE Asia before completing the tour in the present day capital of Vientiane. "All Points East is an independent, fully licensed, UK based tour operator. Our aim is to offer guided, small group adventure tours for those who wish to discover the real South East Asia, away from the traditional 'package group' trails and high-rise, overdeveloped resorts. On our tours we will stay in small, family-run hotels and guesthouses, eat in local restaurants and use local transport as much as possible. In addition all local guides and agencies used are considered friends rather than 'business contacts'. The idea being that you will visit as guests rather than as tourists. Our extensive knowledge of South East Asia enables us to offer original tour itineraries providing a balance between the region's well-known 'must-sees' and off-the-beaten-track, 'best kept secrets'. All Points East tours will provide a real insight into the countries you are visiting - culture, history, landscape and natural world - and provide the opportunity for genuine interaction with the local people. |
